Dinner at the Woodward Restaurant

Monday night Matt and I decided to have an impromptu date night. Aside from us not remembering when we the last time we went out to dinner just the two of us, it was my first day that my promotion was in effect. We wanted to celebrate and decided to try the Woodward restaurant in the new Ames Hotel.

We got celebratory drinks to toast our evening out. I ordered the Model Behavior which is St. Germain and Hendricks gin topped with Chandon Brut and a cucumber foam. Matt ordered the Pisco Sour which is a peruvian style cocktail with Barsol pisco, lime, egg white and angostura bitters. It sounds gross but it is actually delicious! Matt's amazing cousins introduced us to this South American cocktail but their version is blended with ice. Yum! If you ever find Pisco Sours at a restaurant you have to try it! They are really hard to find!

CHEERS!

The Woodward does things a little bit different than other restaurants. You order a couple of meals to share, similar to tapas but they're almost full size portions, and they bring them out to the table as they are finished in the kitchen. Creating a staggered meal all piping hot and delicious. It was a fun way to eat. It's actually my favorite way to eat, a couple of sharing dishes! I get to try more that way!

Matt and I decided to order the roasted squash, blue cheese & caramelized apple flatbread and the grilled hangar steak with french fries & whole grain mustard butter. They were both delicious and beautiful!

The sweet and savory flatbread

The extremely flavorful steak and the most amazing fries

We were both really full but because we were celebrating I managed to convince Matt into sharing a dessert with me. He let me pick the warm brownie sundae with peanut butter ice cream and chocolate sauce. It was SO good! The ice cream tasted like it had been home made with natural no salt added peanut butter. Rich and almost tart. Not very sweet. It was the perfect salty balance to the sweet brownie and fudge sauce! A perfect dessert!

I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The quality of the food was fantastic for the price point!
